News 1 October 2007
We are in our flat in Whyteleafe, Surrey, UK and life is slowly getting on. Our container is due to arrive on Tuesday and after 2 months of sleeping on the floor we are really looking forward to it. We even have our first visitor expected this week, Kenny’s mom is in Cambridge helping his sister with her move, and is coming to stay with us for a few days.
Life here in England is very different, and as I’ve tried to explain, that is not unexpected. We know what it feels like to be in a strange place and not to know… well, anything. We moved to Canada and felt that way. So the feelings are quite similar, it’s just that we are finding out what makes England different for us and that in its self is a new experience. But over all we are doing well, we are missing our friends in Canada, and are quite a confusing bunch when we meet new people here and they ask us where are we from…..? “Well we are South African/Canadian/Swedish” of course! Can’t you tell from our accent? J
Kenny has started work and is finding it challenging and quite different from working from home. He commutes about an hour to work in London and has to dress quite smart, I guarantee you have never seen him look like this before. Please pray for him, safety in all his travelling and that he will fit in and learn the work he needs to know.
The kids and I have started our homeschooling, and my only problem is getting Danny to stop trying to join in so I can go over something with Joshua. They are all so interested and are loving the work and projects we are busy with. Joshua is really taking off with his reading and Mia and Danny getting so good at recognizing and writing the alphabet.
Well that’s all for now, hope to have something prettier for you to look at soon and more info on us.
